CCQs concept & examples.

 

Hi guys this week we will talk about CCQs and some examples in order to have a good understanding of vocabulary.  🤩🤩

When teaching a class it is very important to take into account that in the work plan we are going to include a new vocabulary, since it is very necessary to let the student know and facilitate the understanding of new meanings of words they do not know and all this will depend on the topic to be discussed in class. We must also be very careful when listening to words, sometimes our listening can fail us. Also we must be careful of words that are spelled one way but mean something else, for example, Exit does not mean success but exit, these are very common mistakes that many of us have made, and this is called false friends. 

If, in fact, the learner is understanding and it is becoming clear to him/her what a new word means, we will use the CCQs technique, which stands for Concept Checking & Questions, that is to say that we are going to explain to him The context where we can use these new words in a given case the learner is still doubtful of what it really means, if it is possible to be too detailed. If the word is really unknown to us and they only tell us the translation, as it is, but we still don't know what it is.

Let's not forget to know that to understand very well, we must differentiate, not only the writing of this new word, but also the pronunciation. 

Make physical examples. For the student to understand better, for example Hand and Head show the student that one means head and the other hand. We will also ask questions that are very specific, it is not necessary to ask 10 questions, we can ask 3 or 4 that all go according to the understanding of the student and so we will realize if he really understood or not. 

Some examples. We are in the classroom, we are going to do a new vocabulary about objects or school supplies. And we are going to say, raise your hand, whoever has a pencil OR whoever has a book. Then the student If he has a pencil to raise his hand the same with The book. In the same way, we can have a drawing on the blackboard or on a sheet of paper. The school supplies or objects in the classroom and have them correctly write The new word, then have them pronounce it and point out What is written, but in the classroom. This is a very effective way for the student to demonstrate understanding of new vocabulary. 

What I would put into practice would be the following game 

  • 1,2,3, eyes on me
  • Whose turn is it?
  • Gathering 
  • Welcome back 
These are some of the games that can be learned in different ways and with few materials and thus know that the students have understood very well.

Hi guys 🤩 This a new week 🤩  This week was a little short, since we saw important points for a class planning.  We started by meeting as a group to give our point of view regarding some questions, it is always good to know that not all of us are going to say the same thing, however we can always agree on some things. For example, we both agree that it is good to plan things, but on a day to day basis, not just for the rest of your life. Although it all depends from what point we are looking at it, I mean personally I don't like to plan my life because if I don't do it I feel sad, but if it is professionally and being a teacher it is a fundamental tool to plan things, because you must keep track of how to start with the activities at what time you are going to perform an exercise and fulfill it as it has been done.  Tips are important to remember...  Always have a plan B (for any unforeseen event that may arise).    Never forget the objective (be consisten...
